The Network Meeting is the annual meeting of Scout and Guide representatives. This year an extra special effort was made to design a meeting that would enthuse, inform and motivate the development of a network. While there are aspects of the event that could have been improved or delivered better the consensus feeling was that it was the best Network Meeting in this triennium.

IT ALL began one autumn afternoon in 1908 when eight adventurous boys gathered in a stable in the backyard of a house in Muston Street, Mosman, to form the Kangaroo Patrol - becoming what are believed to be Australia’s first scouts.

They had been drawn by a series of newspaper articles describing Robert, later Lord, Baden-Powell’s plans for an international movement aimed at supporting young people in their physical, mental and spiritual development.

Better late than never, a Denmark man will receive his Eagle Scout Award 45 years after he earned it.

Dr. Cleveland L. Sellers Jr., director of African American Studies at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, will receive the long overdue honor on Dec. 3 during a Court of Honor and luncheon at the Brookland Banquet and Conference Center in Columbia.
